Starter Task: Create a chemistry glossary in your reporting pad. You need to write definitions (in your
own words) for the following key terms (you may use google to help you if you are unsure):
Solid
Liquid
Gas
Non-newtonian fluid
Diffusion
Concentration
Dissolving
Solute
Solvent
Solution
Saturated solution
Mixture

Main Task: Create an A4 poster (on your own) that explains what happens to sugar when you add it
to a cup of tea. A4 plain paper and colouring pencils are on my desk. Please return pencils at the end
of the lesson. Try to use these keywords: dissolve, solute, solution, solvent, sugar, tea.

You Could:
Draw the sugar being put into the cup of tea
Draw particle diagrams for the tea and the sugar
Describe some properties of solids and liquids
Describe what happens to the taste of the tea as you add more sugar to it
Correctly label or define the keywords solute, solvent and solution, with respect to the tea and sugar
Describe what dissolving is and how the sugar dissolves in the tea
Explain what would happen if you kept adding more and more sugar to the tea (would it keep
dissolving?)
