1. Identify (giving justifications) the external environmental factors that
predominately played dominant role in influencing the above
mentioned situation.

1. Private practices of doctors :- some patients are being treated at clinics of the doctors so any
impact on doctor’s image in the hospital would have an impact on the clinic's performance as well.

2. Revenue sharing :- Doctors are losing patients of their private clinics because patients prefer to
connect with PCEs as doctors are coming across as greedy.

3. Family obligations :- Everyone has his conciseness priority when it comes in terms of family
needs. So leaving one and joining another Job for monitory benefits is also one of the factors.

4. Joining Competitive industry :- No other player has PCE services that seem to be
attracting/retaining patients. So it works for the hospital but for doctors, they find it intrusive and
opens up the possibility of joining another hospital

5. It is already mentioned that there is a doctor shortage across the nation, so Dr is in high demand
in every hospital so retention is also a problem in one place.

2. According to you what are the strengths and weakness of the organization?

Strengths

1. The unique proposition for its consumers(patients): PEC is a unique offering that is being
offered by the Krishna hospital
2. Management is there to understand and listen to staff problems and focusing on retention
rate rather than only revenue generation.
3. Diverse offerings: Hospital had expertise in multiple departments and offering many facilities
to satisfy consumers(patients) needs
4. Personnel and Physical Facilities: Good effort had been put into all organizational planning
for the hospital- facilities, equipment, customer satisfaction.
5. Hospital Doctors are doing their best in terms of patient recovery that is why they are
concerned about genuine advice to patients, not only making money.
Weakness

1. Staff relationships: The relationship between the PEC and doctors had turned sour due to
miscommunication.
2. Inability to reduce the attrition rate of the doctors.
3. Lack of proper training to PEC, to match with Doctor diagnosis.
4. Hiring MBA's for PEC position is not going to fulfill hospital needs. There must be some
medical background as well.

3. Suggest ways by which the situation can be dealt with.

There are multiple ways by which situation can be dealt with :-

1. Hiring for the post of PEC must have match certain profile
• candidate have the same medical education background
• Training of counseling should be given before dealing with a patient or the
patient's family
2. Coordination between PEC and Doctor should be there to implement in policy
3. PEC role should be more defined that in which matter and at what level they need to
counsel the patient or their family because regarding diagnosis and treatment
Doctor is the best person to define and PEC can help in moral, emotional, and mental
support.
4. Resigning is not a solution to the work environment problem. Doctors need to speak
to management when they see the problem with the patient's attitude rather than
sit quietly and resign from the position.
4. Identify and explain any one of the management principles that
accordingly to you would be useful in justify the your suggestion(s) as
par question no. 3

Fayol's six primary functions of management Principles are there like:

• Forecasting.
• Planning.
• Organizing.
• Commanding.
• Coordinating.
• Controlling.

But looking at this scenario according to me, Planning is one of the important principles of
management which can solve or can ease any problem of management.

Explanation: This can justify my suggestions

1. Planning in the hiring of desired (PEC) staff so it will be hassle-free for further
process. So new recruitment will only give benefits to (Hospital) organization.
2. Planning will also help in the training of PEC, like in which segment and what are the
highlighted point needs to cover in training so the past mistake cannot be repeated.
3. Planning will also hells in making coordination between staff, so from time to time
things will be improved and the area of work will be more clear and more defined.
4. Proper Planning will also help in increase the retention level, by solving the dispute
between staff at the root level.
