OBSERVATION

NARRATIVE REPORT

First class observed was in a reputed private school of St. Blaise Community Academy Inc. in San
Luis, Batangas, 9- SSC on 4th October 2021 afternoon 2:50 pm to 3:40 pm. Due to COVID-19 lockdown
situation 2 groups of 3 each member joined online to observe the class. The teacher is Ms. Juvilyn
Villostas and the class was about TLE/ ICT and the lesson is about different input and output devices and
its parts. The class was held in ZOOM meeting where everyone was able to ask question and clear
doubts. About 16 students attended the class with proper attention. The slides were informative
enough, so the students were understand the topic and putting their feedback. Teacher had a proper
approach with clear voice with friendly attitude. Teacher maintained a simple sentence construction and
pronunciation was clear also was able to hold student attention till end of the class. Also, Teacher
maintained proper class timing. She followed a steady approach in going depth of the topic and students
felt inclusive in the discussion. Finally, the class was ended by answering the activity flashes in the
monitor to students to perform. And Ms. Villostas insisted to take a picture for all of us that will serve as
attendance in her class. The next day, we are scheduled again to observed. Unfortunately, Ms. Villostas
told us that the school prepared a celebration for the teachers for teacher’s day celebration and there
will be no classes.

Second week of observation was held both ZOOM meeting and we observed first the 9- SSC on
11th day of October 2021 from 2:50 pm to 3:40 pm. As like the last week observation class the lesson
was continued by discussing the storage devices and its part. It’s sad because about 50% of the students
joined the class on time and rest of the students could not attend due to lack of internet speed. Teacher
has taken proper preparation and used a very informative slide for taking the class. The topic itself is
quite generic where students had to communicate and ask lot of question for proper understanding.
The teacher maintained a clear voice through the class and its was visible about the preparation and
knowledge about the topic. The class finished earlier, and the teacher was able to get complete
concentration of the students since few students were attended and lesson should finalize for them to
be able to study for the upcoming exams. The next day, we observed the 10- Endurance on 12 th day of
October 2021 from 11:30 am to 12:40 pm. The topic was different, and the teacher discussed about
different wires and its importance. About 6 students were attended and I think some students could not
join the class due to lack of internet speed. Also, the teacher prepares a very informative slides and
enjoyable discussion. Since the number of students can be counted by hands. The teacher be able to
have the children answer the questions prepared by her. They finished one lesson at a time and started
another lesson after answering the activity from the previous lesson. The teacher discussed about the
safety precautions from fiber optic and every student participated in the discussion even though it was
30 minutes late. Ms. Villostas insisted again to take pictures that will serve as our attendance. On our
third observation, we are informed that there will be no class for the reason that the children will study
in the coming exam.

Overall experience in observation was a bit nervous yet enjoyable, because when you see how
students learned and participated in the class discussion and I can’t control myself to imagine when I’ve
become a teacher in the future. Students are very active and as a teacher it’s more fulfilling to see your
students learned from you rather than being sit in the class while your salary is continuous.
