•To bless my family [at least a little] financially in exchange for the time I put into making these free printables. By
not visiting the blog directly, I do not receive ad money and therefore am not able to meet my 2nd goal! Thank you for
your honesty!

The United Kingdom, also called the U.K.,
consists of a group of islands off the
northwest coast of Europe. It is a
unique country made up of four
nations: England, Wales, Scotland, and
Northern Ireland.

England, Wales, and Scotland also make

up Great Britain. Much of the north and
west of the U.K. is covered in high
ground, knife-edged mountain ridges
separated by deep valleys. This terrain
was shaped in the last Ice Age, when
thick glaciers covered the land. In the
south of England, the countryside is
mostly rolling hills.

England has a population of over 55

million and they speak British English.

Although England has a sitting monarch, the
Queen of England, she has no real power. The
royal family is neutral on political issues, but
rather focus on community, foreign rulers, and
humanitarian work. England is ruled by an elected
Parliament.

Sports and literature are among the United

Kingdom's cultural claims to fame. Soccer, rugby,
cricket, boxing, and golf were all invented in
Britain. And the U.K. has produced many great
writers, including William Shakespeare, Charles
Dickens, and Robert Burns. J.K. Rowling, the
writer of the Harry Potter books, is British.

ENGLAND is famous for many things - Fish and Chips, Big
Ben, double decker red buses, black cabs, the Beatles,
London and tea. England is famous for its long history
and its Royal Family. Windsor Castle is the oldest royal
residence still in use.
