cardiac pacemaker

Hello my name is Julieth katherinne albino reyes, next I will present my topic about the
pacemaker.

What is a cardiac pacemaker?:

The artifechal cardiac pacemaker is an electric impulses yenerating devaics that, as a
funchon, eslows daown the electrical activity of the hart and, dipending on its mechanasm,
triggers electrical impulses.

History:
In naytin terty tu (1932), the American fysiologest Albert Haiman, working independinly,
invented an electro-mechanical instrument which he diveloped useing a hand-crenked
electric motor. Haiman reiferrd to his inveinchon as an "artifeicial pacemaker," a term iusd
today. Haiman taested his inveinchon on animals and meinayed to rivaiv fortyn (14) forty
tri of (43) laboratory animals.
Transvinas peicing was ferst iusd in conyunchon with an implantid pacemaker in naintyn
sexty two 1962-63 by Parsonnet in the iunaited Steites, Leigergran in eSwiden in seventyn
eintyin 1718, and by Jiin-Jaques Welti in France.

Functions
• Modification of the frequency of the beats to suit the body activity of the wearer (adaptive
rate pacemaker).
• Helps prevent atrial rhythm problems through overstimulation (preventive step).
• Recording or tracking of heart rhythm disturbances.
• Improvement of the heart's pumping function by stimulating the left ventricle or both in
the event of left ventricular malfunction and underperfusion (cardiac resynchronization
therapy).
