MD Essay 2: Dilemma/Adversity
a) Describe an instance when you did – or in retrospect think you should have done – something
differently or intervened because of an ethical or moral concern; or an occasion when your thinking or
decision making was deeply influenced by principles of ethics or integrity. Such an occasion may
include issues of personal or academic integrity involving yourself or others. How did this experience
change your perspective? Please do not describe general ethical issues (e.g. abortion, euthanasia) if
they do not have personal resonance to your particular situation.

b) Alternatively, describe a significant adversity you have encountered, how you have dealt with it,
what you have learned about yourself, how you may have changed as a result, how you might
approach things differently in the future, and any other learning lessons from the experience.
