SESSION GUIDE

Session Number and Title 1. EXPLORING CANVA: DESINGNING GRAPHICS LIKE A PRO
Duration 1 hour and 30 minutes

Target Participants JHS FILIPINO SUBJECT Teachers


Link to the Previous Session/Topic This session provides information about the tool that can be used to create graphics for websites, social media, e-mail
campaigns, presentations, and infographics.
Link to the Next Session/Topic ` This session provides inputs that is a prerequisite in using Cupcat and Audio lab as another tools that can be used in creating
video lessons.
How does this contribute to the DEPED CONTINUITY PLAN – LEARNING MODALITY – DISTANCE LEARNING
program outcomes?
In the integration of inputs into the BE-LCP, the Office of the Secretary was guided by the following principles:
1. Protect the health, safety and well-being of learners, teachers and personnel, and prevent the further transmission of
COVID-19;
2. Ensure learning continuity through K-12 curriculum adjustments, alignment of learning materials, deployment of

multiple learning delivery modalities, provision of corresponding training for teachers and school leaders, and proper
orientation of parents or guardians of learners;
3. Be sensitive to equity considerations and concerns, and endeavor to address them the best we can; and
4. Link and bridge the BE-LCP to DepEd’s pivot to quality and into the future of education, under the framework of Sulong
EduKalidad and Futures Thinking in Education.

Thus, the use of different learning modalities to meet the needs of the learners should be implemented. Moreover,
teachers and students are new to these kinds of modalities. Being in an unfamiliar territory, teachers need to adapt to the
changes to provide quality education among learners. Students these days are digital natives and studies say that they would
learn better and faster when they are taught in the way they prefer. Using technological advancements to cater the
teachinglearning process amidst pandemic may be the key to address the gap on educational system.

Learning Objectives At the end of the session, the participants are expected to:

• determine the importance and advantages of using Canva to enhance and meet the learners’
needs in the Blended Distance Learning;
• explore the necessary features of Canva as tool for designing graphics; and • create an
educational graphics design
Key Understandings Canva is a free graphic design platform that allow everyone to easily create invitations, business cards, flyers, lesson
plans, Zoom backgrounds, and more using professionally designed templates. From basic cropping and straightening to
adding textures and color correcting, Canva's beginner-friendly features make editing photos simple. You can add a
textured background to give your photo more dimension, insert text to create your own meme, create a photo grid, blur
your photo, and more. Canva is best suited for small business owners, online entrepreneurs, and marketers who want to
design things quickly.

With the advent of social media, it is no longer enough to merely make print
materials to present to the students. Canva is a product that simplifies the process
with templates and other design elements. It is a resource for anyone who wants
to create products, from entrepreneurs to educators, to anyone just trying to build
a brand. This review discusses the pros and cons of creating designs with Canva
and how it can help with the library brand and other library materials.

The following questions may help expound more the knowledge of the
participants about Google Drive and Google Forms.
