Josepth Calasanz
A man with a big heart

José de Calasanz was
born in Peralta de la Sal,
Spain.

1583
he was ordained a priest by
Hugo Ambrosio de
Moncada.

1588
José is appointed parish priest
in two small towns in the
Pineo.

1592
February he traveled to Rome,
however walking through Transtevere
he saw many poor and orphan children
and decided to do something
important for their education.

1597
he founded the first free
school in the premises of the
Santa Dorotea church in
Roma.

1648
He died in the peace of
the Lord.
