each)

Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan

It is essential because it has so much relevance to today's society as many of the themes are still

relevant, such as greed, materialism, and even religious persecution. With these connections,

students may better understand why they should care about their spiritual wellbeing.

Caldecott Medal

The Caldecott Medal is important in studying children's and young adult literature because it is

an award given to the best work in each category. It is not an award given to the best job of all

time. It is an award given to the best piece of a particular year. Chapbooks

Hornbooks

They provide a way to access much-needed information about popular in various genres and

historical periods. The Hornbooks also help scholars find relevant source materials that they can

use in their research.

Battle doors

Battles are a significant part of children and young-adult fiction. Battles play out on the pages in various

ways, from physical activity to mental or emotional conflict. Battles give children and young-adult

literature depth, meaning, and purpose. Children's and Young Adult Literature is full of battles between

good and evil, friends and enemies. A battle between good and evil is a central struggle throughout

many children's and young adult novels.

Write an essay for three of the following questions (at least two paragraphs),

providing as specific detail as possible. Fully develop and answer the question

asked. Vary your choices of texts on the exam to receive full credit. (+20 each)

Childhood in Huck Finn

For most people, their childhood was when they were full of innocence and had no

worries in the world. However, for some, it wasn't like that, especially in the case of Huck Finn.

Huck Finn is one of the favourite characters of many Americans due to his antics and his

struggle with being different. He also is one of the main catalysts for many other racial conflicts

from the period.

He is known for his rebellious behaviour and his friendship with Jim. He is known for his

adventures but also his trouble with the law. He is known as the "Finnish farm boy," who took

his experiences to the Mississippi River and became one of the most well-known characters in

America. He is also known as the character that sparked the civil rights movement and the author

who gave us one of the most famous quotes in American Literature, “The Adventures of

Huckleberry Finn”.

Values in Little Women

The Values in Little Women were the lessons that the March sisters learned from the

experiences of their lives. The values taught by the March sisters were the values that society

held most dear. These values included tolerance and respect for others, honesty and compassion,

hard work and perseverance. The values that the March sisters taught were the values that they

learned from their experiences.

The values that the March sisters learned from their experiences made them who they

were. The March sisters taught the values that they passed on to their younger sisters, Amy and

Beth, who would later become known as Little Women. The Values in Little Men were the

lessons that the Little Women learned from the experiences of their lives. The values taught by

the Little Women were the values that society held most dear.

Depression Era and Nancy Drew

Depression Era was a period from 1929 to 1939 when Americans struggled with poverty,

and unemployment rates soared due to a worldwide economic depression caused by lack of

demand for goods and services, as well as mass hysteria about banks closing due to lack of

lending credits. This era is typically associated with stock market crashes, widespread hunger,

poverty, homelessness, crime, detention camps for Japanese-Americans during World War II and

domestic spying programs administered by governments at all levels.

In my opinion, Nancy Drew is vital because she helps people who might not solve their

problems on their own or even know how to solve them. People look up to her because they feel

like she can solve anything.
