CCGT utilize both Gas Turbine and Steam Turbine as its main components for

energy production, as we dive deeper into its entire working process two different cycles
can be considered, first is the Brayton Cycle, it is a thermodynamic cycle where it
makes use of the Gas Turbine, extracting energy from flowing air and combusting it with
natural gas to produce energy.

According to Nguyen K. (2020), From point 1-2 of the Brayton cycle air found its
way to the compressor where pressure and temperature rise dramatically. From point 2-
3 is where the air compress and ignited. From point 3-4 is where superheated steam
come in contact with the turbine and expands and give up its energy. Lastly is from
Point 4 where the residual steam is rejected and flow to the HRSG to create a new type
of cycle called the Rankine Cycle.
Ranking Cycle is used as the bottoming cycle in a CCGT. According to Taimoor
A, et.al (2019), as the residual heat from a gas turbine is becoming a waste a HRSG or
heat recovery steam generator where it uses the steam to boil water and to create more
steam that goes directly to the steam generator to produce more electricity. Making the
Brayton cycle and the Rankine cycle the perfect partner for energy production.
