Witnessing Faith Group Survey Kagandahang-loob 3 Theology-A-1 15, As part of our task in foundational theology, our group conducted a survey of about 10 people about the use of the bible. Their responses allowed us to find out how many read it regularly and voluntarily, as well as how many consider it important in their lives. The following are the responses of the participants. Question 1: Do you consider the Bible significant in your life? Why? Person 1: “I consider the Bible significant in my life because this is where | found the truth and the promises that the Lord will bring us salvation. These are the words of God that we may use in living our everyday lives. The words that we need fo embody and put into practice to receive God's graciousness.” Person 2: “The Bible is our life's manual. The Bible's significance in my life is that it allows us to see and know God. We learn about God's dealings with humanity, including His kindness and grace, light and love, holiness and justice, mercy and compassion.” Person 3 Person 4: Person 5: Person 6: Person 7: Person 8: Person 9: Person 10 ‘Yes, Bible is significant in my life since it contains a lot of messages of God and lessons that we could use and apply into our everyday lives. Moreover, | could say that | made a lot of realizations and reflections after | have read verses from the Bible. In this sense, the Bible really changed me a lot.” ‘Yes, because it helps me to feel secured and calms me when I'm scared.” For me, yes. kasi para sakin ito yung nagiging guide ko para ipagpatuloy na lumaban lalong lalo na sa buhay, mahirap man o sa ginhawa patuloy padin dahil sa mga na-experienced ko lahat ng nangyayari may dahilan." ‘Oo, kasi marami kang matututunan dito na pwede mo siyang iapply sa buhay mo on how to be a good person and how to bea goodfollower of God.” ‘Yes, it is important to read the bible as it will allow individuals to understand the purpose of our existence. | consider it as our roadmap in seeking and realizing the truths in our lives. Also, it is where we can witness the goodness and miraculous act of our Almighty.” ‘1 consider bible significant in my life because for me, the words of God bring hope to everyone.” ‘| can consider reading Bible important because it is essential in knowing God and His will in our lives.” ‘| can consider reading Bible important because | got to know about the message of the Lord.” Question 2: How frequent do you read the Bible: daily, weekly, monthly, Person 1 Person 2 Person 3 Person 4 Person 5 Person 6: Person 7 Person 8 or when the need arises? Why? "| read the Bible weekly, because why not? Reading the Bible makes me happy. This is where | gain my strength and it makes my life at peace. “| read the Bible when I'm in a really bad situation or have lost hope. | consider the Bible as one of my strengths in facing challenges in life. It is my weapon to become more bold and nurture my faith. | read the Bible when | needed it, but | listen to God's words twice a week in our worship services.” "| read Bible monthly. | always see to it that once or twice a month, | could be able to read the Bible. What | always do is that every time | see verses from the internet, | will look it on the Bible and read the entire chapteriverse. | also do teflections after reading and apply the lessons | have learned to my life. ‘To be honest | am not reading the bible offen. Actually, whenever | am scared or need words of wisdom that is the time | am reading it. | may not read the bible frequently but | pray to God everyday.” ‘Sa pinagdadaanan ko ngayon halos araw araw nako nakakabasa ng mga verses sa bible, yung ibasa social media at yung ibanaman ay samga simba na napapanood ko.” ‘Weekly” Weekly, because it will help us to acknowledge unexpected changes that arise in our lives.” | read bible (specifically verse of the day) every single day of my life especially before I go to bed or after doing my tasks for the day because it's my way of leaming more about Him, thanking Him for giving me strength every day, and to regain my strength since | always feel good after reading bible and listening to worship songs.” Question 2: How frequent do you read the Bible: daily, weekly, monthly, Person 9: Person 10: or when the need arises? Why? ‘Once a week” ‘Seldom read in a year’ Follow up questions: Do you think it is important for young people to make time to read the Bible? Person 5: Person 6: “Oo, habang bata pa sila mabuti ng mamulat sila sa bibliya at para mabuild din nila yung character nila bilang tao. Marami kasi sa mga kabataan ngayon hindi alam kung ano ang bible at halos din sa kanila napapariwara ang buhay sa murang edad.” Kasi minsan lang ako nagkakaroon ng mahaba habang free time and sa araw un ng linggo, pero kahit once a week ko lang binabasa ang bible di ko pa rin naman kinakalimotan magdasal every day.” Lastly, how will you make it feasible if you are given the opportunity to use your platform to encourage individuals who do not read the Bible to do so? Person 5: For me, | have no plans pa sa mga individual na hindi or ayaw magbasa ng bible kasi may iba't ibang pananaw ang mga tao ukol dito. The thing na naisip ko ay maglalagay ako ng seminar hall na kahit twice or once a week para sa mga taong nangangailangan ng kalinga sa buhay dahil bawat tao may pinagdaraanan kaya ang goal nitong platform nato is makapagbigay payo at guide sa mga taong- Person 5: -kailangan ng masasandalan, turuan kung paano makabangon muli ng may diyos na kinikilala. Naniniwala ako sa mga pagsubok na dadating sa buhay natin, kung gaano ka katibay susuko at susuko ka sa buhay ng walang sinasandalan upang makausad. Inihahalintulad din ito sa MAPAna siyang makapagtuturo kung saan tayo mapapadpad sa ating paroroonan.” Person 6: “Dati, nagseserve ako isang church bilang vocalist, there was a time na napadaan kami sa isang baryo na ang daming kabataan na naninigarilyo, hubad ang mga damit, puro tattoo at hikaw ang katawan, so kaming mga members na nakakita sa kanila nag isip kami ng plan on how to encourage them para magbago or new life, so as ayouth member gumawa kami ng program na youth fellowship and dala dala namin ung mga bible everywhere(libot) upang magturo sa kanila ng word of god. Siguro if | will be given the opportunity again to encourage individuals, yun ulit ang gagawin ko." What are the important things you learn in the Bible? Person 9: “The greatest thing | learned in Bible is how God works, His love for us, and how to have eternal life that he has made for us.” Person 10: “Ive learned how great the love the Lord has tawards us.” How the teaching of the Bible influences your wellbeing? Person 9: ‘It influences me in many ways, like how | see things without and with the help of Bible. It also helps us to provide solutions to our problem.” Person 10: “The teaching of the Bibleinfluences me on how | should love everyone around me, even my enemies.” Summaries and Findings For question 1: Every participant considered that the Bible is very important in their life because of the following common reasons: . It is where they find the truth and promises of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. o ‘The Bible is our life’s manual. . It contains a lot of messages of God and lessons that we could use and apply into our everyday lives. Q It makes them feel secured and calm. . It allows us to understand the purpose of our existence. For question 2: How often do they read the bible (daily, weekly, monthly, when the need arises). = Daily = Weekly = Monthly = When the need Arises , 4 out of 10 participants reads the bible when the need arises. r 2 out of 10 participants reads the bible daily. > 2 out of 10 participants reads the bible weekly. - 2 out of 10 participants reads the bible monthly. Conclusion We therefore conclude, that the bible as very important in our lives, because here lies the words of our Lord and Savior. His promises and commandments are all written in the scriptures, if we follow His words, we'll never go astray. As it was said by some of the participants, the bible is our life’s manual, it contains everything we have to know that we can apply in our lives. Moreover, the scriptures makes us feel safe and secured, by the comforting words of the Almighty. Reading the bible is essential for it is through that we can understand the words of God, it also helps us overcome short comings; when we feel anxious, angry, sad, scared, hopeless, confused, etc. Cail unto me, and | will answer thee, and shaw thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
