✗ The "Doctors to the Barrio" Program
It has made healthcare accessible even in far-flung areas
in the country. Incentives were given to people who
played significant roles in the science and technology
sector.
✗ The National Program for Gifted Filipino Children in
Science and Technology
It was created for high school students who wanted to
major in science and engineering in college.

In 1993, Science and Technology Agenda for
National Development (STAND) was established.
Among its priorities were:
(1) exporting winners identified by the DTI;
(2) domestic needs identified by the President's Council for
Countryside Development;
(3) support industries and
(4) coconut industry development.

National Science and Technology Week
In April 1993 President Fidel V. Ramos signed
Proclamation 169 declaring the third week of July as
National Science and Technology Week.

The goal of the NSTW is to highlight the


accomplishments of the DOST in terms of research
projects that have been completed or technologies
transferred and in terms of communities that the
department has assisted.
