Graffiti Painting

This has been so far the most fun I have had yet on a project. This project really allows any student
to write about their own creation. From the picture that we created; we get to make our own story of
who the character is. In my case, I made a character who had everything he ever wanted suddenly
robbed of all his belongings. Revenge drove himself crazy and became a cannibal and murderer.
What really made this project fun as I had no idea what the story was going to be like. I just spent my
time creating a disturbing looking monster and when I was satisfied with my result, I planned out the
story. There wasn’t much hurdles to overcome as it all came naturally. I didn’t have to spend time
being frustrated on the project because I didn’t know how to transfer my thoughts but spent all my
time actively working. I do not think that the previous projects helped me in the design process in this
one because all this was from prior knowledge with the applications that I was used to. I do feel like
that doing this project expanded my creativity as I can't think of in any recent time every doing a
project that was like this one. I learned that creative writing allows you to really set your thoughts free.

Standard #6 a: Students choose the appropriate platforms and tools for meeting the
desired objectives of their creation or communication.

This is the perfect project for students around the time of Halloween. This is going to be the most fun
that many students will get to do as they get to draw all over their teachers/professor's face without
getting in trouble. This project allows students to use their creativity to have as much fun as they
would like. This project can be altered depending on the grade as you wouldn’t want to see 6-year-
olds drawing knives stuck inside bodies and blood everywhere as this is a little bit inappropriate for
kids, but you can still give them freedom to make creepy photos. For older students, I think it would
be best for them to get to go more in depth with the writing process. In the writing process, they get to
use descriptive adjectives to describe how horrifying the back story of their drawing is, pulling in any
audience that decides to read the story. This project can also be very good when done in a group.
Usually in collaborative work, the product comes out better than as if it was done solo. You can
assign certain people in the group to design the drawing as well as have some people do the story
writing. This gives every person in a group a role to fill and trains students to understand how
important accountability is when working in a group. I can see this project be done in any class,
especially for an English class, but I don’t think that the project can't be used for a math class. Id
imagine that if it was used in a math class, math elements must be present in the project.
