5 Family Poses To Capture Connection

1. Stand in a line and dance. Yes, you heard me right. You often see this pose execut-
ed in a very stiff and uncomfortable way but it can be made fun and heartfelt. All you
have to do is ask the family to hold hands and then dance. Be sure to tell them not
to look at you while they are dancing. Some will really move and some will simply
interact. Either way it yields a connected photo.

2. Up on the shoulders and look. I
like to ask Papa to hold one of the
kiddos up on his shoulders, mean-
while I ask the rest of the family to
look at each other. This is a fun and
lighthearted pose.

3. Group hug. I place my family in good light and then I shout out, “okay everyone, group
hug! Squeeze tight!

4. Tickle pose. First I place dad on the ground then I ask mom to sit next to him.
Now I put the kiddos on their lap and I ask the parents to tickle the kids. This always
yields a fun and connected pose. Just make sure to remind the parents not to look
at you.

5. Lay down together. I
ask the mom and dad
to lay down first. Then
I place the children or
babies on and around
them. I ask the parents
to turn toward each
other. If the kids are
older I ask the parents
to tell the kids a story
to keep them calm.
This yields an intimate
and connected photo.
