means for you to listen to it. It is a story about a group of people in Cuba during Castro’s
Communist regime. Listen to the podcast as many times as you would like to answer the
following. This assignment must be typed and printed.

1. What is the primary group’s name that is the focus of discussion in this
episode? Who is part of the primary group in this episode? (2 pts)

2. In class we have discussed the term groupthink, which is a tendency of

very cohesive groups to enforce a high degree of conformity among
members. From this episode, provide three examples of groupthink that
Los Frikis exhibited and explain why these are examples of groupthink
(9 pts).

3. Explain 2 examples of infl uential power AND 2 examples of coercive

power that was exercised by either: the institutions in Cuban society, Los
Frikis, or Papo La Bala. For each example, why are these examples of
power? (12 pts)

4. Describe an example in which Los Frikis conform to the in-group via

compliance, identifi cation, or internalization . (4 pts)

5. Explain how Los Frikis are conforming while at the same time how they
are rebelling against the social norms of society? (3 pts)
