RELEVANCE OF PRIMARY SOURCE: "Gunita ng Himagsikan" (1964) is a memoir authored by the

Philippines' first president, Emilio Aguinaldo. He mostly relied on his diaries, preserved records, and oral
history from his circle of relatives' elders. It is unknown whether the original diary still exists, but finding
it could provide actual proof for Philippine history. For me, the following are the reasons why "Gunita ng
Himagsik" is critical to the Grand Narrative of Philippine History: History is set to master the truth. As a
result, analyzing each attitude of Historical proof enables for the determination of which event is true.
For historians, the "Gunita ng Himagsikan" can provide clues or recommendations. The "Gunita ng
Himagsikan" is a summons to Philippine history through the eyes of Emilio Aguinaldo. It gives us Emilio
Aguinaldo's perspective on the Treaty of Biak-na-Bato. The "Gunita ng Himagsikan" is still remembered
in Philippine history.
