REFLECTIVE ESSAY

In the current times, type of government system and sovereignty isn't anymore a big
deal as States continue to thrive for survival amidst difficulties. Territory and People as an
essential element of State is in the priority list as became predominant in solving real time
problems such as the terrestrial and maritime resources, man power and workers, as well as to
use Exclusive Economic Zone as a way to improve a State's economy.

The current economy depends on the territory we have. A great example of the
importance of territory is between the China and the Philippines in terms of the West
Philippine Sea. The abundance of maritime resources such as fish, corals and other organisms
is a great strategic area to earn. However, both us and the Chinese wouldn't give it up as the
expansion of Territory through conquering that part of the sea is an additional wealth to the
owning area. In comparison, resources such as pearls can be sold in high prices, affecting our
economy in great increase. “Territory is but the body of a nation. The people who inhabit its
hills and valleys are its souls, its spirit, and its life”, said by James A. Garfield- which means,
the Resources are nothing without man power who are willing to manufacture it into products
for profitable purposes. Products made from this resource's would have great impact in terms
of product exports. Conquering bigger territory means we have big source of natural
resources that would surely solve scarcity, especially on overpopulated areas. With the
abundance of resources, man power is essential as to manufacture everything. Thus, it's a
win-win situation wherein poor people are able to work and gain salary from workforce, in
return, companies will no longer need to buy robotics or highly technological innovations.

Furthermore, Article II, Section 2: Adopts the generally accepted principles of

international law as part of the law of the land and adherents to the policy of peace, equality,
and justice. Thus, highlighting the importance of these two major elements is essential for
when these elements are executed properly, the other elements will follow.
