Definition of Terms

• Online Education- a form of education which is delivered and administered using the
internet.

• Cognitive-relating to, being, or involving conscious intellectual activity (such as thinking,


reasoning, or remembering).

• Academic Performance- the measurement of students achievement across various


academic subjects.

• Distance Learning (ODeL)- a method of studying in which lectures are broadcast or


classes are conducted by correspondence or over the internet, without the student's needing to attend
a school or college.

• Humanistic-relating to or supporting the principles of humanism.

• Latin Awards- refers to an award of distinction given to students that meet or exceed
specific grade point average thresholds or class rank. The three most common honors include cum
laude, magna cum laude, and summa cum laude.

• Random Sampling- is a part of the sampling technique in which each sample has an
equal probability of being chosen. A sample chosen randomly is meant to be an unbiased representation
of the total population.

• Digital Age- the present time, in which many things are done by computer and large
amounts of information are available because of computer technology.
