Julie Smith, President

TBD Enterprise
2020 Opportunity Drive
Los Angeles, CA 90230

Dear Ms. Smith:

Please allow me to introduce myself as a candidate for your Senior Product Manager position. When I
read the WSJ article about TBD Enterprise’s diversification into wearables for people with disabilities, I
wanted to learn more about your company and possible opportunities to contribute to your growth. I
have had personal family experience with the challenges of living with Parkinson’s and I am excited to
see how your new developments in medical technology can improve the quality of life for people with
physical impairments.

My motivation to work in the field of medical technology stems from my family history and educational
training. My B.S. in Kinesiology and my MBA in Technology Management from UCLA Anderson
complement the skills developed at notable biotech and medical device firms. Some highlights from my
work experience that are relevant to this role are:

1. Cross-functional team management. At BioStern, a medical device company, I led the go-to-
market launch implementation for a new consumer fitness measurement gauge. Collaborating
with Sales, Operations, Finance and Marketing, our team successfully introduced the gauge into
hundreds of sports clinics nationwide.
2. Product innovation. As a strategy analyst at InnoProto, a new product think tank, I led research to
uncover new markets and product categories to diversify into 3 new classes of wearables for
people with traumatic brain injury (TBI).
3. Integrated marketing: For BioStern, I developed the 360o traditional and digital marketing plans
for 20+ new products, resulting in $8M in incremental revenues after 2 years.

I admire TBD Enterprise’s leadership in cutting edge research, patents granted and game-changing
wearables technology solutions. Now with your new Emerging Technologies group that focuses on
underserved populations, I’d like to contribute to the success of the team that will change the world,
one person at a time.

Sincerely,

EJ Smiley
