Are the Global North and the Global South dependent on one another?

By assessing both sides of the narrative encompassing the threshold of the

Global North and the Global South, I could say that they are not dependent on one

another, hence one is more dominant crating inequalities and incongruity. Tracing back

to our history, we could see how both worlds progressed over time and by weighing in

their tales, it is evident that the Global North holds more power and supremacy over the

other. For instance, the rise of empires and dynasties from the past were mostly located

in the Northern part of the world. Most of the time, countries from the Global North had

a motive of exploiting resources from the Global South since they have more seas and

oceans that are capable of breeding rich biodiversity if one were to take a detailed look
considering the geographic and climatic conditions of the Global South’s boundaries.

Fine examples even lie in our past as when Ferdinand Magellan of Spain travelled

across the world to gather spices and resources, and to expand their territory as if we

are merely just pawns to them. That’s where the problem arises when regions holds

different capacities that could trigger unbalanced relationships over one another. This

imbalance would make the marginalized regions dependent on larger states that has

more developed economy, thus the larger state could manipulate and overpower these

small states as their underdogs in which unequal footing are being rampant. These

unforeseen circumstances could lead to disputes and inadequacies where it could

heighten walls of their borders—therefore regresses engagement and unity between

one another. Overall, If things continue to progress, one continue to gain and the other

would continue to loose, and in time could be overtaken.
