Egyptian medicine




Ancient Egyptian medicine was highly valued from the beginning of civilization, being superior to
that practiced much later, even in medieval Europe.
Historical context  Eight relevant data
It’s considered superior medicine even much
later, medieval medicine for example is inferior.
Imhotep was the last minister and eminent
doctor, thousand years later he was glori ied has
god of medicine
In this culture the medicine, is specialized, there
was a doctor for each disease and there wasn’t
no general medicine like present time
Just for being more speci ic this era spanned
around from the year 3200 a. C to 31 a. C.,
when the Roman Empire conquered and
absorbed Ptolemaic Egypt, which disappeared as
a State.
CONCLUSION
Compared to the data, it was concluded that ancient Egyptian medicine was enormous, due to the fact that the contents of the medical papyri were of no value at all. It is important
to remember, yes papyri are valuable for historical documents, but the degree to which they show when reading their content is poor. Therefore, despite great progress, it should not
be worshiped.

Philosophy about
health & disease 
At the time when the events we are telling
happened, life was very short, since man was
exposed to a thousand dangers, so congenital
malformations did not survive long.
Metabolic diseases did not become chronic and
hormonal diseases did not persist, while
oncological diseases did not manifest
themselves.
They assumed that disease was almost always the
result of forces hostile to humanity.
trauma, diet, climate, animals, hidden and
irreducible forces of enemies.
The Egyptians protected themselves from evil,
including spells and bad luck, and even from
certain diseases by using amulets as jewelry.
The Egyptian pharmacopoeia was as varied as it was
picturesque. Medicines, perfumes and ointments for the
needs of the cult were prepared in the laboratories of the
temples.
The Edwin Smith Papyrus shared the knowledge of how they
used to make his clinic history: Symptoms, diagnosis and
treatment
Traumatology has undergone a remarkable development.
They knew how to treat the sprains and fractures of the
injured and had speci ic instructions for their care.
They use to make prosthesis for the deads and for the people
who were alive too
Access to medical care was very well controlled by the
government just like public health today.
It is curious that they used to give opioids since those days
for killing the pain in the diseases
There were dentists who illed the infected tooth to treat it
individually with an antibacterial potion
The doctors of that time healed skin wounds with sutures,
which are still the basis of treatment today.
