Non Invasive ICT based Interventions in Livestock (NILO)

Problem
Less production of meat and milk due to inefficiency in maintaining the farm and the animals

Livestock Farming in Saudi Arabia

The following graph shows number of small, medium and big farms in Saudi Arabia as per 2019
data.

Concept
Milk and its processed products are the mundane intake of both rural and urban area. This is
estimated that the production of Milk is less viz-a-viz its consumption. It is not only difficult for
a farmer having one cattle or an industrialist having herd to maintain and monitor the health,
reproduction and feed on real time basis. The proposed project will demonstrate and end to end
solution for the individual and industrialist to monitor various parameters related to animal’s
health, behavior and reproduction on real time basis. Furthermore, these parameters will be
analyzed using Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to produce actionable recommendations
that will improve the reproduction, reduce veterinarian visits, maximize profit, minimize
medicine intake and increase milk production.

The solution will revolutionized the livestock industry both at private and public level. The
solution is self-sustainable and will provide the product and services to both national and
international clients as software as service (SaS) and Infrastructure as service (IaS). The
proposed solution will be scalable to incorporate sheep, goats and pets in the future. The
proposed solution can be offered to both provincial and federal livestock department that can
subsidies it for farmers.

Objectives:
 Improved reproduction rates
 Early disease detection
 Operational efficiency
 Higher Profit Margins
 Feed optimization
 Stress management

Outcomes:
 Enable end to end technology/solution in the form of Management Information System,
Mobile application and hardware that achieve the above objectives.
 Exploiting cross disciplinary research and applied areas.
 Capacity building of livestock department and its associated industry.

Business Model
 Optimizing the operational cost, increasing the reproduction, minimizing the medicine
cost and increasing the milk production are the keen interests of end user that is related to
livestock industry. Thus, our product serves the purpose to be adopted.
 The product will be developed i.e. software as service (SaS). This will enable us to
provide cost and subscription based services to both public and private livestock industry
both national and international levels.
 Our clients are small, medium and big farms national and internationally.
 Veterinarian companies, practitioners, and research centers

Prototype Cost, Duration and Platforms

It has both hardware and platform cost, can be discussed as scale matters in such products. The
project Duration will be 9-12 months approx. with field testing.
