Joy : Yes i knew that news from social media. Anyway Grace, do you agree with that policy?
Grace : I do agree with the government policy. Firstly, smoking is harmful and lead to serious
disease for its smoker. Second, it is also harmful for people around the smoker when they
breath in smoke.
Joy : Yes you are right, I think so too Grace

 ■ DEFINITION OF ANALYTICAL EXPOSITION

Analytical exposition adalah sebuah teks dimana penulis menuangkan

pemikirannya mengenai suatu masalah ataupun fenomena yang terjadi di sekitar,
yang dikuatkan dengan pendapat lain untuk mendukung pemikiran di dalamnya.

Alright, but why do we need to write an Analytical Exposition?

Analytical exposition memiliki tujuan untuk meyakinkan pembaca bahwa topik

yang terdapat di dalamnya merupakan suatu topik yang penting untuk dibahas
dan mendapat perhatian.

How much do you drink water today? Water is often considered insignificant

Thesis but behind it all, it turns out that water has important functions for our body. There
are several reasons why you should drink enough water.

Firstly, interstitial fluid is obtained by drinking lots of water. Water is used

by the body to digest food and help transport nutrients throughout the body. In

addition, interstitial fluid is also useful for producing saliva and regulating body
temperature.

The second reason is that it helps kidney work. Our kidney processes 200
liters of blood in our body every day. It also filters out waste and delivers urine to

the bladder. To do all the tasks, our kidney needs enough water because water is
used to clean anything that is unnecessary for our body.

Reiteration In conclusion, water is important for human life because it’s the basic
needs.
 THE GENERIC STRUCTURE OF ANALYTICAL EXPOSITION

1. Thesis
Thesis berisi pengenalan atau pemaparan terhadap tema yang akan di bahas atu yang diangkat.

Contoh : “How much do you drink water today?” → Topik

“Water is often considered insignificant but behind it all, it turns out that water has important
functions for our body.” → Pandangan penulis

2. Series of argument
Series of argument berisi pendapat/ pemikiran yang ingin disampaikan oleh penulis mengenai suatu
isu atau fenomena. Pendapat harus logis sehingga dapat meyakinkan pembaca.

Contoh:

 Firstly, interstitial fluid is obtained by drinking lots of water.

 The second reason is that it helps kidney work.

3. Conclusion/Reiteration
Reiteration merupakan bagian akhir dari teks yang berisi kesimpulan mengenai topic yang dibahas
dengan menuliskan kembali ide pokok yang ada di dalamnya.

 Contoh:
 Stainless steel straws are important to save the environment.
 Tidak hanya struktur, setiap jenis teks juga memiliki penggunaan unsur kebahasaan/ language
features yang berbeda-beda. Berikut merupakan language features dari Analytical Exposition:

Menggunakan present tense
Tentu anda sudah mengetahui tipe-
tipe tenses yang digunakan untuk
menunjukkan present, namun, bukan hanya simple
present tense, Modal seperti “can” juga dapat
digunakan di dalam teks Analytical Exposition.
2.
Menggunakan conjunction
Penggunaan conjunction ditujukan untuk
menghubungkan argumen satu dengan yang
lainnya. Kata hubung yang lazim digunakan
misalnya firstly, secondly, further, besides, in
addition, dan lain sebagainya.

3.
Menggunakan evaluative word
Tujuan penggunaannya adalah untuk menekankan
seberapa pentingnya topik yang sedang dibahas
dalam teks. Evaluative word yang biasanya
digunakan misalnya important,valuable, significant,
crucial, dan lain sebagainya.
4.
Menggunakan compound and complex
sentence
Compound sentence merupakan kalimat yang terdiri
dari dua buah induk kalimat (main clause) yang
dihubungkan dengan coordinate conjunction (but, or,
and).
