Activity 7 - Problem Posing

Name: Kim Sofia S. Blanco Section: III-Mathematics

A. Is it important to encourage students to pose problems?

 Yes, Problem-solving is important both to individuals and organizations

because it enables us to exert control over our environment. Addressing risk,

humans have learned to identify trends and developed an awareness of cause-

and-effect relationships in their environment. It has a special importance in

studying mathematics, a central importance in the discipline of mathematics and

in the nature of mathematical thinking. Problem solving places the focus on the

student making sense of mathematical ideas. When solving problems students

are exploring the mathematics within a problem context rather than as an

abstract. Problem solving encourages students to believe in their ability to think

mathematically.

B. Cite your personal experiences in problem posing.

 By reading our paper and math is so hard but I manage to take care of it myself I

carry the problem and look again and never give up.
