 awareness on how Information systems is currently being deploy in an organisation.

 explain concepts, theories, and principles in using appropriate digital/technology
applications to problem identification, problem formation and problem resolution.
 developing lifelong learning skills, through search of relevant materials and
discussions.
 making an effective documented report.

Assessment Details:
Information systems define today’s business landscape. Interaction with colleagues,
clients, suppliers, business partners, peers and information sources is constant and
pervasive. Organizational productivity and effectiveness depends on 24 x 7, online, real-time
access from any location and any device like personal computer, laptop or mobile phone.
People interact directly with computers in sectors such as education, finance, government,
health care, entertainment, publishing, travel, manufacturing, telecommunication,
transportation and food and beverage.
The competitive rules are changing at an unprecedented pace. When the business
trends are constantly being reshaped especially during this covid 19 pandemic, the
technological change plays a key role to support this change.
In Malaysia, many corporate businesses and government divisions had
provided computer based information systems or/and online services to their loyalty
customer and citizen to improve their services especially in recent years. Most of the
information systems have undergone a continuous evolution in the recent years. Below are
some examples of online-based information systems used by various companies and
government in Malaysia:

 Aviation sector: Air Asia, Malaysian Airline System, etc.

 Logistic and warehouse sector: DHL, United Parcel Services, etc.
 Telecommunication sector: Maxis, Celcom, Telecom Malaysia, etc.
 Government sector: Income tax e-filling, EPF E-Caruman, Immigration, etc.

Requirement:

For this assignment, each student is required to choose a company of a particular sector to
study and analyse. The company can be Multinational Corporation or a Malaysian company.
In the study and analysis, each student is required to choose one online-based information
system which is available in the chosen company.

Guideline:
Students can visit to Website of the respective / selected company, explore and use the
company’s information system.

Question

Each student is required to:

1. Discuss the type of businesses of the chosen company (e.g. healthcare, education,
food and beverage). (CLO1-PLO2) (10 marks)

2. Illustrate with diagram and explain the organisation chart of the company under
study. (CLO1 – PLO3) (10
marks)

3. Identify and explain the various information systems used by the chosen company to
manage and support their business operations. (CLO2 – PLO3)
(10 marks)

4. Choose one online-based information system used by the chosen company. Discuss
the purpose and benefits of using the information system identified. (CLO2 – PLO2)
(10 marks)

5. For the online-based information system identified in (4).

Identify ONE (1) function provided by the on-line-based information system.
For the function identified, a student must describe in detail the steps to perform the purpose
identified in (4). The report should demonstrate how a user access the information system,
the inputs a user should key in and output reports which will be produced by the function of
the information system. The documentation includes and show the user interfaces for the
function specified. (CLO2 – PLO3, PLO4).
