NAME: PRANAVRAM V
SIGNAL INTEGRITY ANALYSIS FOR COUPLED STRIP LINE
TRACES.
AIM:
i) To observe and analyse radiated emissions in strip line technology.
ii) To analyse cross talk in ground isolated strips.
APPARATUS REQUIRED:
PC with Ansys electronic desktop version 2021 installed
HFSS MODEL:
RESULTS:
ACTIVITY 1:
- In activity 1, radiation decreases as the traces are present in between the substrate.
Both the substrates act in a way such that they shield by reducing the radiation being
emitted.
- In activity 2 coupling reduced as we have separated the traces. There's a ground plane
which separates the two and hence are not in proximity.
- For comparison with the microstrip type coupled PCB trace a table has been prepared
and included as part of the report.
- We can infer from the tabulation that in terms of coupling, setup 1 and 2 are similar
hence implying the effect that even if a substrate is place over the strip, coupling
doesn’t get affect, but when we look at setup 3 where one trace is under the other, the
coupling is less.
- Similarly in terms of the isolation port, setup 1 and 2 are same and setup 3 is way less
comparatively.
- In terms of emission radiation for 3m and 10m as well as digital signal delay for 3m
radiation, setup 1 and 3 are similar and setup 2 has a much smaller value.
CONCLUSION:
We have successfully performed and simulated the given experiment and produced
waveforms for the same. We have also provided a tabular column comparing the values to
experiment number 2 to look at the differences which have been clearly mention as part of
the inference. We have also drawn significant inferences from the given waveforms and the
output has also been verified.
