1 Introduction to the Amdocs OSS
Integration Adapter
The Amdocs OSS Integration Adapter provides capabilities to allow design,
implementation and activation processes to be managed across service
management and resource management domains.

The operational environment of communication service providers may

comprise a complex architecture of OSS and BSS systems. Amdocs Service
Order Manager facilitates the design, automation, and tracking of each task
in the provisioning process, and ensures all activities are executed at the
right time and in the correct order, from order intake to order fulfillment.
Orchestration, integration, jeopardy and fallout management across multiple
systems are supported by Amdocs Service Order Manager.

With Amdocs OSS 8.1 deployed in to a complex BSS/OSS environment,

the OSS Integration adapter allows Amdocs Service Order Manager to pass
service orders, receive implementation jobs and execute activation jobs
using a variety of Amdocs OSS 8.1 products.

The Integration adapter allows Amdocs Delivery Engine and Amdocs
Activation Engine to communicate through standard Amdocs Service Order
Manager public interfaces. These points of integration are shown in
Figure 1.

 Manage Request Service (MRS). Submission of service orders and

fulfilment process updates.
 Manage Network Activation (MNA). Reporting of implementation
jobs and completion status.
 Manage Activation Job (MAJ). Issuing jobs for activation on the
network.

Service Order Orchestration
The Integration adapter provides the ability for Service Order Manager to
request the design, implementation and discontinuation of services on the
network, using the Manage Resource Service interface.

Implementation Plan generation

Delivery Engine generates jobs and passes them to Service Order Manager
for further orchestration. Jobs from Delivery Engine can then be managed,
by Service Order Manager including the management of Job flow, Job
dependencies and fallout targeting multiple workforce and activation
platforms.

Control of Network Activation Activities

As part of a cross-domain implementation process, the OSS Integration
Adapter allows Service Order Manager to send activation jobs to Activation
Engine.

Integration Logging
The OSS Integration Adapter supports the ability to log and view all
incoming and outgoing messages using a customizable web application.
