REASON FOR HOUSING RABBIT


 To protect them from weather and direct sunlight
 To protect them from predators and thieves
 To make it easier to feed and give them water
 To control them breeding
 To keep proper production records

FEATURES OF A GOOD RABBIT HOUSE

 The roof must be made out of thatch and not corrugate iron
sheets as these make houses hot.
 The hutches must have wire floors to allow faeces and urine to
pass through immediately.
 It should provide good ventilation.
 The hutch should be constructed about 1m off the ground to
protect the rabbits from predators such as snakes.
 It should have a lockable door to protect rabbits from thieves.
 It should have a concrete floor which is easy to clean.

CHARACTERISTICS OF EACH STRUCTURE

A. Single grain structure

 Has individual particles that do not stick together


 Easy to cultivate but blow away easy
 It has large air space
 It has large air space between the particles

B. Crumb or granular

 The soils drain well


 It has good erosion
 Have particles of different sizes
 Rich in humus

BLOCKY STRUCTURE

 Soil particles form aggregates that look like blocks.


 Water can move easily between soil particles.

PLATY STRUCTURE

 The soil particles form plate like structures.


 It is poorly aerated
 It has poor drainage
 Nutrients are not easily leaked
PRISMATIC STRUCTURE

 Has pillar shaped or vertically arranged aggregates.


 Has poor aeration and not good for plants growth.
 Aggregates are arranged into flat vertical surfaces.
