• A diverse classroom is one which we see students from different cultural backgrounds, social
backgrounds, individual differences, mental disposition, different types of personality, different
belief and different religions and traditions.

 DEFINITION

• Diverse classroom is defined as the one in which students significantly differ in their physical
and psychological trait, socio-economic status and learning abilities.

• Diverse classroom is the classroom nature where the human relationship and its natural
environment is understood, where the difference in nature of one student with the other
student is respected with the exchange of feelings.

1. Understanding The Learning Styles Of Students
And Teaching

 Some student want to listen more to the teaching of the teacher and gather
information and concepts for his learning.
 Teacher should teach students by lecture method and by interacting with them.
 Some students observe more for learning, and these students should be taught by
showing visuals or scenery or diagram in the classroom
 Some students touch and feel objects for learning anything, and these students should
be taught by involving them in physical activities
 The teacher who teacher the diverse classroom should understand the learning styles
of the students and should plan for teaching in the classroom
 Teacher can encourage group learning and co-operative learning by asking them share
their learning styles in the classroom
2. Special Children In The Diverse
Classroom
 Even in students who have the same type disability , the teacher should identify their

individual differences and teach them accordingly.

 Some disability of the students may not be identified outwardly. The teacher should closely

observe them and their learning defect and he should prepare them for teaching.

 Most of the disabled students should be taught by using multimedia equipment in the

classroom

 The teacher should consult the psychiatrics and doctor for getting advice about the disabled

students well-being and he should teach them accordingly

 3. Teaching Students considering their
Cultural Differences
The teacher should identify the different cultural background of his children in
the diverse classroom
 Give special attention to their nature of learning
 Teaching – learning should be based on the cultural background of each students
 Teacher should identify the different types of culture of the classroom and prepare a lesson for
including them in the subject teaching

Atmosphere
• Students give priority learning through their mother tongue .

• If more than two or three languages as mother tongues for students in the
diverse classroom, then ask the students some frequently used words in each
language of the students and include them while speaking in the classroom

Backgrounds In The Classroom

The teacher should prepare himself for teaching students in a diverse classroom with
different communal backgrounds.
Teacher should speak to them during the classroom interactions using good habits, values etc.

Teacher should prepare a lesson plan to include the values and ideals in each community in his
classroom teaching
 6. Teaching For Developing Gender
Equality

• The teacher can prepare his lesson plan so that it develops the perspective
that male and female are equal in all aspects.

• The teacher should use his language in his classroom lecture so that students
develop using neutral words that do not differentiate between male and female
in the classroom learning interactions
 7.Teaching For Socially And
Economically Background Students

• Our country is a developing country with people who are socially and
economically background.
• Diverse classroom has economically and socially background students as one
dimensions.
• The teacher should form the groups that each group has the students from
different economic and social status
 CONCLUSION

Teacher should respect the diversity of the classroom, treat the students
impartially and should guide them in their learning process. Teacher should
understand the dimension of the diversity of the classroom and create positive,
safe and nurturing classroom atmosphere for teaching the students in the
classroom.
