Enlist the parts of bearings and determine the function of each.
 Bearings – Serve to reduce friction and allow for smoother rotation. This cuts
down on amount of energy consumption. This is the single most important
function of bearings.

 Inner Ring / Outer Ring – The inner ring is a press fit on the shaft while the
outer ring is a close push fit into housing.

 Cage – to space the rolling elements, retain the rolling elements itself or in
conjunction with one of the bearing rings, and in many designs to guide the
rolling elements on their correct rolling path.
