Answer to Questions

1. What is the message that it gives us? Do you agree with the message?

The message that the cartoon wants to impart is how the current generation has turned many
young adult’s life into race carrying the burden of their families. In the picture shown a young man is
tied with a rope that binds him with the thought of finding the best way to handle the financial crisis he
has. Would he rather work long shifts and overtime for small salary or should he stick to the
temptation of easy money by drug pushing. In this reality people lost control of who they are.
Desperate to solve his problem he disregards the principles that define him and decides to take a risky
job which will make him lose himself (effects of drugs).
The message strongly speaks about realities in this world. Young adults start working as their
families depend on them and the pressure they feel everyday from all the bills to be paid and the
pressure from people’s expectation that at the age of 20 or 22 he or she must start working to be
financially stable. Because a person with too much burden can also forget who he is when he starts to
address his problems with illegal ways. This pressure sometimes result in negative ways, suicide or
drug use.

2. How would you describe the thought of the author towards adolescence?

Adolescence is part of human development where we start to think and do things in a more
mature way. At this stage, confusion between wanting to be happy and wanting to be comfortable is
common. This is the part where you decide working for your future. You will carry more
responsibilities not only for yourself but also to the people that will depend on you. The truth is that
nowadays younger people are forced to work because life is becoming more difficult and everything in
this world are needed to be bought.
