TERMS / CONCEPTS

1. VALIDITY
- The validity of the assessment materials being used should be taken into consideration.
It is important to have valid materials because it is for the students learning, so that they
will learn and excel.

2. Clarity of the learning target


- Being a vision driven will be mush useful to have a clearer target in mind. Having a clear
target will help teachers focus on making learning materials intended for students.
When teachers have the exact target, they will be able to proceed to next step,
determining what method to be used in attending the students.

3. Write directions
- When teachers made examinations or tests, direction is part of it. Directions make it
easier for students to understand how to answer the exam or test or the process of the
test on how it should be done.

4. Analyze and improve the test


- After giving the test and after checking it out, teachers are most probably going to
review and re-check the students answers in order to identify where the students didn’t
understand, in what area they received low mark and what particular area they got
higher marks so that this will be pointed out and teachers will find out some strategies
to improve and solve the problem.

5. Construct the test items


- It is advisable that test items should be constructed ahead of time so that whenever
unexpected changes may happen it is much easier to do so and there would be enough
time to do it. Unlike if test items are being constructed late, when unexpected problems
arise it will only add up to the problem.

6. Checking the test items


- Before handing the test items, it is best to recheck or review it first to avoid any errors
or any typographical errors on the test. This is to avoid destructions when having the
exam.
7. Essay test
- This Is another alternative way to assess students learning. Through essay type of test,
student is given the opportunity to answer from their heart, express their feelings,
express their thoughts and ideas. They can express what they have learned by writing it
in an essay form.

8. High- Quality assessment


- This refers to the quality of assessment given by teachers towards their students. The
quality can be identified right after the test is done whether the assessment being used
is effective enough or not. Once it is not, teachers will be able to do better by using the
previous outcome as a guide to improve the assessment.

9. Reliability
- Assessment used for students should come from reliable sources. Trusted and reliable
will help the students in their learning for improvement and development of their
selves.

10. Disadvantage
- This word when we talk about the assessment used and type of test given to all
students, this refers to the advantages it has brought among students. It may have the
good side of it also has the opposite one. It is better to know not only the advantage but
also its advantages so that there would be enough ideas when constructing tests.

Terms / Concept

1. Pre-instruction
- This instruction applies at the beginning prior to the discussion of the topic. Teachers
should know students’ capability especially their knowledge and learning and to identify
this, teachers will do pre-tests.
2. During the instruction
- Teachers will be able to monitor students learning, their learning ability, styles and how
they run or use their thinking ability.
3. Post assessment
- This assessment is being done and observe to determine whether the learner has
mastered the topic, knowledgeable enough on the topic and has obtained skills from it.
4. Formative Role
- A type of assessment used to monitor whether students learning improve and
progressed. The improvement can be observed during the instruction process.
5. Evaluation
- Not only the performance of students will be evaluated. Teachers’ performance will also
be evaluated in order to know the effectivity of the teaching ways and styles applied
when giving instructions.
6. Diagnostic Role
- This assessment is given to students to diagnose or to identify where exactly they have
learning difficulty and problems during instruction and trough this assessment; students
need of learning will be filled in.
7. Summative Role
- Given every after the end of the course. This assessment helps the teacher to know if
the topic objectives are met and achieved.
8. Performance
- This is a type of summative assessment. Some teachers prefer to let their students
perform as much as possible to dig deeper into every student likes and ability.
Performing anything that can be considered as high performances.
9. Instructor Self-evaluation
- Teachers’ responsibility is not that easy, and it takes a lot of passion and love of it to
move forward. Instructors evaluates themselves for them to know where they lack and
what they must improve to be proficient.
10. Placement
- Refers to the student’s obtained knowledge and what they already know about it.

1. Teacher-Made test
- Test that are given to students right away by their teachers during class discussion.
2. Clarity of target
- Having a clearer target and being vision driven, teacher will help them focus on how
students learn and to look forward with a positive outcome. Observing the behavior of
the students.
3. Evaluation is based on clearly stated objectives
- This statement means that when evaluating the objectives of the course topic will serve
as a basis to make better judgements. If it shows that the objectives is hardly met then
probably the evaluation result will not look good.
4. Appropriateness of Assessment Methods
- Internalizing whether the assessment method used by teachers are appropriate to the
level of the student’s learning capacity. Assessment methods are classified into different
types just like how diverse students’ way of learning and learning style is.
5. Practicality and efficiency
- In today’s time, being practical in different aspect is effective when it comes to facing
real life scenarios. Giving practical exams is much easy to administer and not that
complicated.
6. Test
- Refers to a certain type or any type of measuring the knowledge, skills, and abilities of a
particular person to determine their idea and stock knowledge or learning.
7. Student should receive feedback
- It is important to give feedbacks to your students every after giving them task or
performance type of test so that they will know if they did a good job, if ever they need
to improve in that particular area or they need that skill in other aspects or type of test.
To know how they are doing.
8. Reliability
- Something that is reliable enough and that you can trust.
9. Fairness
- Fairness has a lot of aspects under it, giving every student the opportunity to learn, no
to teacher stereotyping and avoid being biased when giving assessments tasks and
procedures.
10. Positive consequences
- This learning assessment is more on the student’s side. Giving the student the chance to
improve and be motivated through the feedbacks they received from their teachers.
