CFA LEVEL -1 in 50days

First of all, keep in my mind that 50-days are indeed sufficient for L-
1. Go for schweser notes. For L-1, that is more than enough. Target
the practical papers starting with Fixed Income, Derivatives and
Quants. These three subject need some explainations so refer
prectical examples. Although remember, for L-1, merely
understanding the fundamental concepts would be fine as they dont
dig into complex problems in L-1 exams, as their focus is not on
valuations but basic concepts. So if you are stuck in a complicated
valuation problem, better not waste time on that.

If you are a commerce grad, then FRA wont be much of an issue for
you yet it has the maxium weightage and longest syllabus, so keep
studying it regularly. Dont uselessly wastes time on US GAAP
problems as most of the problems asked will be based on IFRS only.
There are a lot of treatments for various items, a lot, so keep a short
note of all the items in a different copy for quick review during
exams.

Portfolio management, Alternative investement, Equity, Eco and

ethics are more or less theoretical so they wont be that stressful but I
cant emphasise enough that if you havent practiced questions and
examples in ethics, you will be screwed in the exam. They are
scenario based and can be very complex to analyse objectively.

Corporate Finance is very conceptual and fun yet need to be studied

in detail though they are easy, so dont stress.

Try to complete all these 30–40 days and then practice as many
questions as you can, you’ll realise why everyone stresses so much
on question practice once you start doing them. They are cunning,
confusing and deceptive, so beware. Sometimes you wont be able to
differentiate between two options, while sometimes, ethics will
happen.

The main focus of the exam will be on concepts and not on lengthy
numericals, so you can skip long problems if you dont have enough
time. Keep a note of all treatments in FRA, definitely. And relax,
drink enough water and solve questions.
