P3 – Content Plan

Potential Clients

My personal media profile will hopefully be useful for any potential clients who may want to
commission me to create a piece of art or maybe even a graphic. These could be businesses that are
looking for a piece of art to promote their work. The clients don’t necessarily have to be an ICT or Art
Company, they might just be a company looking for an image or logo to help promote their brand
and if they aren’t too experienced with art or creating graphics, they could look at my site and
potentially hire me. They also would likely not be experts in either designing graphics or creating art
and that’s why they’d come to my site to see samples of my work. As most people have phones who
hire clients, they would likely be viewing my site on a mobile device or view it on their desktop on
any computers that are available to them. They would want to see my examples of art and digital
media work, as well as seeing what grades I got in them to give an indication of my skill level. They
will also need to know my contact details, which I will have available on each page of my profile.

The work that would be best to show potential clients would be examples of my artwork, in the form
of photos that can be found on my profile. I can also upload examples of the graphics I have created
for Unit 3, specifically the sample material worksheet. Another piece of work I could include for
potential clients to look at would be my pre-production documents for Units 3, 21 and 23, which
demonstrate my planning skills for any assigned projects by clients. They show that I am able to
interpret a client brief and create a variety of pre-production documents to assist with the creation
of a digital media product. The pre-production documents for my digital media profile would be a
great way to show the clients how I went about creating the overall design for my profile and they
will then be able to view the finished product.

Universities

When applying for university, my personal media profile would be a useful source for them to have
an insight to my digital portfolio, where I will have a collection of art, digital media and English work
for them to look at. The people who view my profile from the universities will be quite intelligent
and will have access to computers and other devices, meaning my profile must be impressive and
well presented. There shouldn’t be any issues for them when trying to access the site, I will make
sure that any images and files I upload will be a high quality and can be opened from a range of
devices and web browsers.

When universities look at my profile, they will likely want to see examples of my work that display
my understanding of the subjects I’m studying. They will likely be interested in my work that shows
my organisation skills. The best pieces of work to show them from my Digital Media units would be
the Gantt charts, they will be able to gauge an idea of the project management skills I have. I can
also show them my case studies that show how I have applied my digital media knowledge to large
scale productions that exist in the media. A final piece of digital media could be my Unit 1 worksheet
about understanding research that goes into creating media products and evaluating how they are
received by various audiences. They will also likely want to see an example of an essay I’ve done in
English to demonstrate the academic tone I have when writing, it also gives them an indication of
the grades I have achieved for my self-study work. Another piece of work that would be ideal to
show them would be the introduction for my art written piece as it goes into detail as to why I enjoy
art, as this is what I hope to study at university. It will act a bit like a personal statement in the sense
that it will show why I am passionate about the subject. Of course, it would make sense to also
include a copy of my personal statement as that is tailored to universities as they want to see my
skills and why I am interested in studying my chosen subject at university.

Teachers

Teachers will want to see my site, particularly the digital media teachers, so that they can see
samples of my work that I have done over the years. This will allow them to track my progress too,
allowing them to see what sort of grades I achieved for specific pieces of work. They will be able to
view my work from a computer in school and will be educated on the level of work they want to see
from a student. There will be certain pages they will be interested in on my site, mainly the ones that
display my work, highlight my skills and show my qualifications.

The teachers will want to look at my examples of work, mainly the Digital Media teachers who will
have marked my work. Because I will have all my work displayed and organised on my site, it will be
easy for them to find and they can look at examples of work from all six units we have studied over
the course of Sixth Form. In particular, I want to display my Unit 21 proposal, Unit 1 work on codes
and conventions and Unit 2 work on project management. Not only are these my favourite pieces of
work from each unit but they all link into the creation of media products and the management that
goes into them, showing that I understand what goes into creating a media product and generating
ideas for them. These skills are important in the digital media industry so I think that they would be
the best examples of work to choose to display on my profile. In terms of work that show my design
process, I will show my design documents on my profile, which links to what potential clients may
want to see as examples of work. This allows for the teachers to see the process that went into my
final product, the Unit 21 proposal would fall into this but in terms of design documents I would
show the mind maps and profile designs for Unit 23.
