ASSIGNMENT SHEET

Name: GENDRANO, HAROLD L. Score/Mark:

BSMT2 POLARIS
Year and Section: Date:

NAV 4 LEC Week 1

Direction: Essay Type. Give at least 10 sentences. Based on your own understanding, can you
please explain and elaborate the following.

1. Kepler’s Law of Planetary Motion

In my own understanding Kepler's law was name comes from Johannes Kepler. Keplers Laws
describe how the orbits of planet around the sun. A radius vector connecting each planet to the
Sun sweeps out the same amount of area in the same amount of time. The cubes of the planets'
mean distances from the Sun are directly proportional to the squares of their sidereal periods.
Kepler never assigned a numerical value to these rules or separated them from his other
discoveries.

2. Perihelion
It is the point where our planet earth get the closest point to the sun around early January.
Seasons happen because Earth’s axis is tilted at an angle. Because Earth orbit is slightly
eccentric perihelion normally happens in early January and these dates might vary from year
to year. Though perihelion occurs during winter in the Northern Hemisphere  he perihelion
refers specifically to orbits around the Sun.

3. Aphelion
Aphelion is where the point in the orbit of a planet earth approach the farthest point from the
sun. The duration of aphelion has an impact on our weather. Summer brings the Earth closer to
the Sun. As a result, its orbital velocity is at its lowest, and traveling from the summer solstice
to the autumnal equinox takes longer than traveling from the winter solstice to the vernal
equinox.
