COVID-19

In 2020 the world faces an extraordinary moment due to the emergence of the coronavirus in
Wuhan, China which then spreads so rapidly throughout the world. In Indonesia, the first
Covid-19 case was reported by the government on March 2, 2020, when two Indonesian
citizens were tested positive for the corona virus after contact with a Japanese citizen who
had come to Indonesia before being tested positive for the corona virus. The existence of
Covid-19 pandemic that struck Indonesia caused the government to issued a system to reduce
and limit outdoor activities. To control the spread of this virus, the Indonesian government
implemented policies related to social distancing, such as issuing commands to stay at home,
study and work from home, avoid contact, limiting operating hours in public places,
prohibiting activities in large numbers, wearing masks, and washing hands. However, the big
problem with this policy is that most of the Indonesian community have disobeyed this
policy. The larger-scale social restrictions policy to handling the Covid-19 pandemic had an
impact on the socio-economic of the community including job sustainability and income of
workers. The spread of this disease has had wide social and economic impacts. The role of
the Indonesian government and community is needed in overcoming existing problems by
looking for new strategies that are utilizing technology and looking for new job opportunities,
while still paying attention to health protocols. The economic impact, an ignorant society, and
the absence of targeted therapy and vaccination can affect the progress of a pandemic disease.
