Enumerate the three (3) vital faucets upon which the nature of the Social Teaching of the
Church is based upon?
a. Emphasis on the human person as Imago Dei/Image of God
b. Celebrates humanity and our interconnectedness
c. Promotion of justice according to God’s plan

2. Why is the paradigm of love and justice so important in the Social Teaching of the
Church?
The paradigm of love and justice are so important in the Social Teaching of the
Church because it is basically the basis of their teachings. Without love there can be no
justice, and the other way around. Being created in God’s image and likeness it is our
duty to spread these social teachings with love for our fellow human beings and justice
for everyone as we reach our goal for the common good.

3. How should the Church understand her "critical collaboration" with the state?
Based from the powerpoint presentation, both the Church and the State have
distinction but still should respect the autonomy of each other. To be specific, the Church
should respect the autonomy of the state by prohibiting members of the Church/ministry
to run for public office. The state on the other hand, shall respect the autonomy of the
Church by not favoring and establishing one religion on the state. They shall not interfere
with their practices unless it affects public order. However, this distinction between the
Church and State does not necessarily mean that they are totally separated with each
other. In accordance to Gaudium et Spes, the Church truly understands that they cannot
really control the decisions of the State but they have the right and duty to teach their
social doctrine freely to people and give moral judgements regarding public order
whenever there is violation of human rights done by the State. People need to
understand that the service of the Church and the State is both for the common good
and that cooperation within the two is beneficial to reach this goal.
