2AR-6 Week 4 – Lesson 2 Analysis

1.How can those principles and values in social life help in providing solutions to social
issues?
These principles and values in social life can help provide solutions for social issues by
serving as a guide especially during those times when we need to make decisions in life. For
example, lately we’ve been dealing with issues of bringing back the death penalty and some
people, including me, cannot decide whether to agree or not however, with the principle of Life
and Dignity of Human Person, I was enlightened that it does not respect life being sacred and a
gift from God. If most people would be enlightened to some issues like these then we will be
able to lessen the social issues that we face in our society.
2. Can the principle and values be applied to promote good social relationships?
Definitely, the principles and values can be applied to promote good social relationships
because its main goal is to build a just society without stepping on other’s dignity regardless of
their religion, race, culture, status in the society, etc. These principles and values are founded in
accordance with human dignity, which is universal, thus it applies to everyone with a moral
vision of the society. One specific example that promotes good social relationship is the call to
family, community, and participation. Applying this theme, we all have the right and duty to
participate in society, seeking together the common good and well-being of all. How we deal
with other people directly affects our human dignity and one of the most important relationship
that we have is our family.

2AR-6 Week 4 – Lesson 2 Action

Choose among those seven principles, which is for you the most important or
significant? Write a concrete action (doable activity/ies) wherein you can put that
principle into reality (action).
Among the seven principles, I think the most important is the Life and Dignity of Human
Person because for me this is the basis of all the principles since human dignity is also the
foundation of our morality. In order to put this principle to reality, first thing would be to
acknowledge the importance of my own life since it is a gift from God and it is also a form of
respect to oneself and to human dignity. Next will be, promoting the value of life and human
dignity to others by respecting them and treating them fairly without discrimination whether we
have different religion, race, cast, status, etc. In addition, I can also be an advocate of suicide
prevention organizations in order to remind people that our life is sacred and should not be
taken away since the suicide rates have been increasing. With this I can be of help also to those
people who are struggling to find their purpose in life and losing their faith in God.
