Power in Prayer

22
So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to
this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that
those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever
things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. Mark 11:22-24

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears
us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we
have asked of Him. 1 John 5:14-15

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to
you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be
opened. 9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he
asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your
children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Matthew 7:7-11

 When we pray, do we truly believe God will grant us what we ask, or are we just begging, hoping
He hears and will do it?
 Are we praying with an “idol” in our heart: we desire the thing we are asking for more than
God’s will or God Himself?
 Are we praying out of fear or in faith?
 God gives us many promises about prayer in His word; we need to get it in our heart that He
rewards those who diligently seek Him and ask/intercede in faith, believing that He can answer
and desires to do good for us.
