Dear Consulate.

My name is Tina Rowe, and I am 21 years old. Hailing from St. Elizabeth, Jamaica with an aspiration of
obtaining career advancement in the field of Developmental Service Worker. The field of Developmental
Service requires one to be passionate, empathetic, patient, emotionally stronger, critical thinker etc. All
qualities I possess.

The area of special need has been rapidly growing within Jamaica and it has become a great area of
concern. Oftentimes, special needs individuals are neglected, taken for granted and feeling unimportant. I
see the need for this service especially when considering the growing demand and need for more attention
to be placed in this area. There is a lack of this service that is available in my region and as a result
families such as my own have been impacted because they do not have the basic knowledge or skills to
deal with persons with a mental disability or mental disorder.

In wanting to start a career in this field, it is necessary to be certified and get the level of training needed.
I did my checks for a program that would equip me with this certification and was unable to find any
institutions offering what I needed. My current employer Mr. Robinson and I have had many
conversations regarding my desire to pursue higher education in this field, and after discussing the lack of
programs in Jamaica, he suggested I investigate other countries to which my search began.

During my search I came across the Developmental Service Worker program at Dan Roberts College of
HealthCare. I chose this school due to the extensive course outlined and all the aspects of developmental
service I would be learning. At Dan Roberts, I will learn how to monitor vital signs, health and wellness
practices, developmental psychology, and with field placement, get first-hand experience to operate in
this fast-growing environment.

My goal as a developmental service worker is to help in enhancing the capacity of people with intellectual
or developmental disabilities, to function in all aspects of community living and to support their full
inclusion in all aspects of society.

Mr. Robinson offered to support me financially, since he considers this to be an investment in my future.
My mother Tracia Rowe will be the caregiver for my son Toraine in the 1 year I will be away. Upon my
return, I look forward to reuniting with my family and commencing my dream career.

Thank you for reviewing my application. I look forward to your response.

Respectfully

Tina Rowe
