REFLECTION PAPER

Community assessment is defined as a collection and analysis of data

related to the needs and characteristics of the children and families in the
community. In our community, we have problems and issues that needs to be
addressed and these can be identified using a variety of methods. Because of
doing community assessment, we will be able to identify programs and
community resources available in order to meet the needs of the people and
solve the gap.
Moreover, the community assessment also will also help us identify and
understand the most significant issues and trends affecting families with young
children in our community. For example, today, thousands of Filipinos are in
need of job and the inefficiency to deliver adequate health services for the
people. It has been identified that most of our people has been deprived of
opportunities and these situations in the community should be reassessed.
More importantly, the information from the community assessment can
be used to guide programmatic decisions, such as planning, service delivery,
and evaluation. It will give us hints on which part needs to grow or change within
the community that could potentially lead us to new national priorities.
