This diminished scale pattern can be heard throughout many, many jazz records. It’s a common
part of the jazz language and it’s worth incorporating into your vocabulary if you want to be a
jazz cat.

Since there are only three diminished scales, there are only 3 different ways of playing this
pattern. You can play it over dominant or diminished chords.
