Lesson Objectives: 
Subject/Grade Level: Spanish/9th grade

 Subject observable objective:    In this lesson the students will learn the
basic vocabulary associated with the family. They will also be able to answer
questions with quien (who).
 Multicultural goal: (Chapter 1 Study guide): Create positive family and
school relationships include family/caregivers.

2. All Lesson Materials:


+photos of you and your family (or magazine cut outs of people)
+construction Paper
+tape/glue
+scissors
+handouts/worksheets
+pencils/color pens
+markers

3. Instruction- learning Process- Students will create a family tree. This family
tree will have to have the picture, name and identity of each member in Spanish.
Encourage students to talk about their families.

Create a detailed outline explaining the multicultural activity


following the teaching design below:
 Do First: (5 minutes): Students will listen to the song “La Familia”by
Rockalingua and learn the lyrics.
 Mini - lesson: (15 minutes): I will show a picture of my family (mom, dad,
brothers, sisters, grandparents and myself) and introduce my family to the
students. Then show a photo of current family (husband, daughters).
 Guided Practice: (10 minutes): Students will get a worksheet about who is
who?
 Independent Practice: (20 min.): Students will create a family tree using
their family pictures.
 Exit Slip: (5 minutes): Students will have to turn in the assignment at the
end of class.
4. All Resources: List all resources used in the multicultural lesson
plan in APA format.

5. Reflection:
 Evaluate your multicultural lesson activity.

I think this is going to be a fun lesson. Students been able to introduce their
family members and titles to their classmates.

Quien es ella/el? Who is she/he?

Vocabulary words: el padre, la madre, el hermano, la hermana, los abuelos,


la familia (mom, dad, brother, sister, grandparents, the family).

Concept of Family in different cultures.

Identifying the different physical features by pictures.

The diversity in the United States.

The diversity of languages in US.

 List the strengths and weaknesses of the lesson plan

Strengths: Fun, engaging, diverse and creative.

Weaknesses: Probably the worksheets and handouts.
