Lutheran Action Plan:

Mrs. Phillip’s Classroom

Know students Developmentally and Individually: As a Lutheran Teacher it is my duty to

know my students where they are not only academically, but spiritually as well to build that
relationship with them and help guide them in faith and academics .
To do this I will:

• observe and assess(questions on Bible Knowledge, faith experiences, faith mentors).

• pray for guidance and my students.
• listen to their questions and answer them based of scripture.
• grow in my own professionalism attending conferences.
• greeting each student and their families every morning.
• open house night
• pray with the student individually as well as a whole class.
• be attendant outside the classroom.

Demonstrating Authentic Care and Accepting each Student: God shows authentic care and
accepts each and everyone of us. We see this in Psalm 139 where we are fearfully and
wonderfully made and God sees each and one of us. I will:
• greet every student at the door by their name in the mornings.
• differentiate learning to meet the needs of every child by size, time, level of support, input,
output, difficulty, goals and participation in class and Jesus /religion time.
• listen to the students and show that I care.
• Allowing students to ask questions and helping them find the answer.

The Physical Environment: When you walk into my classroom, it will be visible that God is
present. I will:
• Create an alter space that includes the Beginners Bible, bible story books, and cross
• hang up pictures of the Bible Stories we are learning about in Jesus/religion Time.
• display Bible verses around the classroom, and include Bible stories in the book nook area.

Leading and Guiding Devotions: Devotions are very important to help with faith development.
They help children learn about what the Bible says including stories, law, and gospel.
Reading the Bible: Reading the Bible is important because this is how we know what God has
told us. If the students have questions, they can go back to scripture for answers. In my
classroom students will have various times were they can read the Bible. They can read in:
• the book nook area. There will be various Bible stories and a Beginners Bible.
• as a class, we will read out of the Bible during Jesus Time.

Teaching Prayer: Each time we will pray, I will say and have students say with me: “Our hands
we fold, our heads we bow, its time to talk to Jesus now” or “ remember this is time that you get
to have a conversation with God so give him your heart” depending on the age of my students.
• During Jesus Time/ religion
• During Meal time and snack time (if applicable), Lunch do the “come Lord Jesus be thy
guest.” and at snack to a “camp” grace (ex: shark prayer, Johnny appleseed) to show their is
many different ways to pray
• At the end of the day during final meeting time before the students leave, Echo prayer.
• Include a space in the classroom for students to pray.

Teaching Music: Music is how we praise and thank God for everything he has done for us. It is
also used for fellowship. I will teach music by:
• using actions to teach new songs to the class during Jesus Time that relate to the lesson.
• teaching hymns and having children sing during church services.
• Using Christian songs that we have learned during Jesus Times for transitions so they are
hearing the music regularly.

Teaching Memorizing: Memorization helps move God’s words from our heads to our hearts. It
helps students understand the meaning of God’s word. In my classroom, I will teach
memoization:
• in Jesus time have students repeat back the verse of the week, when teaching the verse the
first few days.
• by use actions for students to help memorize.
• having a song that relates to the Bible story/message for the week and play it daily, and it
includes motions and movement.

Teaching offering/serving: When we teach offerings and serving, we are teaching the Great
Commission. We are teaching our students to be Disciples of God. In my classroom, we will
• making cards for shut-ins.
• collect old coats, clothes for homeless people.
• have visits to the nursing home to sing songs about God, especially around Christmas and
Christmas Carol.

Core Values: Values are abstract, but our expectations for the classroom on how we treat
ourselves and others. Our values show the love of God. Some Values that will be in my
classroom are:
• In this classroom, we will be honest with each other.
• Show respect to everyone, classmates and teachers.
• We will be kind and show others compassion and love.

Rules: Rules are used to show students how we demonstrate God’s love and follow God’s Law.
Some Rules I would Include in my classroom are:
• Eyes and ears on the teacher.
• When it is time to clean up, everyone helps.
• Hands to yourself.
• Showing Gods love my making good choices.

Consequences: Just like in Genesis, there is consequences for our actions. For students to
understand the need of Gospel, consequences are given to show call out the sin. Some
consequences I would have in my classroom would be:
• A verbal warning for the behavior.
• Removal from the area or activity.
• Additional removal and a note sent home to parents.
• Administrators get involved to figure out the best response to students actions.

Response to Sin: When Sin first entered the world, God had to respond to Sin, and as a teacher I
will also have to respond to sin. When I respond to sin in the classroom, I will:
• Seek my students out and have them tell me what they did.
• Show love and forgiveness.
• Teach both Law and Gospel.
