Since online technologies allow online selling, what do you think are the advantages and
disadvantages of converting a business from offline to online?
One of the advantages of online selling, especially during this time of pandemic is that the
business can reach to a lot of people compared to offline shop that is limited to the place that the
shop is residing to. With the online business reaching a lot of people, the seller will not be
limited to sell domestically, but rather it can also sell internationally and reach a wider variety of
consumers. Other than that, it will be a lot convenient for the customers to buy online since they
will not be needing to go out of their homes and risk their health during the pandemic. Online
selling can also be beneficial to everyone including the seller since it promotes fewer contacts
with strangers.
However, behind the convenience of online selling is the disadvantages of this mode of selling.
Since online selling during this pandemic became prominent to make a living, one of the
disadvantages of this is your product that will be posted online can be copied by other sellers,
some may try to plagiarize your packaging, the name of your brand, and so on. Another problem
that may occur is the bogus buyer, a lot of scammers are everywhere who will try to sabotage the
business. Since online selling is very popular today, there will be a lot of competitors that is why
compared to offline shops, an online business needs more advertisements or “gimik” for your
business to become more known to people and for them to buy your products.
