1. For me, writing has always felt like a chore.

I dread every paper I have to crank out, and

I struggle with the process of putting a meaningful piece of writing together. That being
said, I feel that I have written some really great papers while at Biola, and ones I am
extremely proud of. However, it takes quite a bit of time and effort for me to reach that
place. Once I can get past the mental blocks I experience, I feel I have “nailed down”
what it takes for me to accomplish this.
2. As a violin performance major, pretty much my entire existence revolves around
practicing my instrument. Though I have entered the professional world in my field, I
continue to practice for multiple hours every day, as there is always room for
improvement. Writing can seem a little more ambiguous than working on a piece of
music, but I agree that it probably needs to be practiced as well.
3. As a student, I always do my best to put my best foot forward in my work. As I have
become an upperclassman with music taking up so much of my time and energy, my
general education and Bible classes have suffered as a result. Similarly, as I have begun
working as a part-time musician and teacher while completing my degree, I don’t feel I
am putting in as much effort as I used to, however, I will do everything I can to gain
insight from this course. As an individual, I tend to be hyper-focused on a goal, and do
everything I can to attain it, letting extraneous things fall to the wayside. This course will
not become one of those “extra” things for me, as writing is a necessary skill in any field.
