Jollibee, McDonalds, and Wendy’s

Company Profiles
Jollibee
Jollibee is a multinational fast food chain restaurants owned by Jollibee Foods
Corporation. Its founder is Tony Tan Caktiong founded in 1978. It is very popular here in the
Philippines due to it also being a Filipino company. They have a popular tagline such as
Langhap-Sarap, Bida and Saya!. As of now, it has around 1,200 locations. They’re best known
by their spaghetti and Chickenjoy.
McDonalds
McDonalds is an American fast-food company. It was founded in 1940 by Richard and
Maurice McDonald in San Bernardino, California in USA. McDonalds is the world’s largest
restaurant chain by revenue. McDonalds is best known for their hamburgers, cheeseburgers,
and French fries. They offer other variety of foods too such as chickens, soft drinks, milk shakes,
etc.
Wendy’s
Wendy’s is an American International fast-food restaurant. It was founded by Dave
Thomas on November 15, 1969, in Columbus, Ohio. Wendy’s is considered the world’s third
largest hamburger fast-food chain, following Burger King and McDonald, with around 6,711
locations. They are well known for their square hamburgers, sea salt fries, and Frosty.

Comparison and Contrast of Codes of Ethics and Conduct


Comparison:
1. Protection against retaliation – all three companies apply this rule in their code of
conduct. Retaliation is an act that is recommended, threatened, or taken against an
employee.
2. All three companies practice human rights protection. This includes having respect and
dignity in the workplace as well as being open to diversity and inclusion.
3. All three companies practice hygiene and safe food and beverages in their code of
conduct.
4. All three companies’ value lawful business practice. This includes complying with laws
and regulations and having to comply to limited use of non-public information to
respect privacy.
5. All three companies prohibit accepting business bribes such as gifts, favors, moneys, etc.
6. All three companies value company assets and financial interests as to avoid conflict
interests. They also always comply with GAAP.
7. McDonalds and Jollibee prefer to act for the long-term benefit of their company.
8. Wendy’s and McDonalds prohibit bringing alcohol and drug in their workplace (as stated
in the code of ethics and conduct).
9. Wendy’s and McDonalds allow their employees to participate in political activities.

Contrast:
1. Jollibee conduct their business with integrity. This means being always honest, honoring
commitments so that they can make commitments that they can deliver, building
relationships, and make decisions based on merit.
2. McDonalds specifically prohibits relationships between employees.
3. Letter and Spirit of the Law – McDonalds stated that this is their first and most
fundamental obligation in every place where they do business.
