Everyone thinks that being a translator is easy.

However, being a translator is too hard in


terms of polysemy and working without a break. Firstly, a word can have different meanings. İt calls
‘’polysemy’’. Polysemy is the association of one word with two or more distinct meanings, and a
polyseme is a word or phrase with multiple meanings. The word "polysemy" comes from the Greek
for "many signs. For example, the word ‘’sound’’ This word has a very large number of meanings. It
has 19 noun meanings, 12 adjective meanings, 12 verb meanings, 4 meanings in verb phrases, and 2
adverb meanings. Also, another example is that, the word good has many meanings. For instance, if a
man were to shoot his grandmother at a range of five hundred yards, I should call him a good shot,
but not necessarily a good man. Second one is that working without a break. Whether your job
involves lifting heavy loads, riding roads, or clacking keyboards, having break time is important for
your productivity at work and for your health. However, a translators' job is to translate every
sentence. Therefore, you cannot take a break until that person has finished speaking and you have
completed your task. As a result, there are many difficult sides to being a translator in terms of
polysemy and working without a break.
