EMPOWERMENT TECHNOLOGY

REFLECTION:
Media and ICT gives a big impact in my life and my digital media life because it makes
everything easier when it comes to communication, it really helps me to be stay connected
with my loved ones who are living far from me especially this time of pandemic,
government give a protocol that everyone should stay home and that’s why I couldn’t talk
personally my friends and some of my relatives but because of the ICT and media it is now
easy for me to talk to them.
ICT really helps me too in terms of my education because when pandemic strike, our
learning modalities becomes distance learning and education get harder because it is a self-
learning education and the lessons cannot be discussed and you should learn it by yourself,
that’s why the ICT becomes a big help because in order for me to understand clearly the
lesson, I search in the internet a related topic about the lesson I am studying about and so
that, it will be more comprehensive to me when I answer the activities given.
ICT is a big help also in our society because media the way that everyone use to give
information about the happenings and if there are important program that everyone
should join, they use media to announce those important information and health- related
information, the best example of this is the vaccination program because the officials give
the information through the of online so that many people will know about it. Even though
ICT is a big help for us, we should be more attentive about the ICT because there are certain
sites that gives false information and theories, that’s we need to be good and open minded
about the online platforms and site we’re using and the sites we’re searching is legitimate
and gives facts and true information.
Duterte accounts for COVID-19 vaccine shortage in Philippines

As of October 12, 2021 in an interview about the shortage of COVID-19 vaccine in the
Philippines, President Rodrigo Duterte took responsibility for the shortage in COVID-19 jabs
this year as he reiterated that the government has enough funds to buy vaccines for the entire
population. He said that if there is someone who made a mistake, it is him, since he could not do
anything. he had wanted to buy (vaccines), but he didn't know where to buy. Duterte lamented
the country has no vaccine manufacturing firm, which makes it hard to secure COVID-19
vaccine doses for Filipinos.

The President also reasoned out that rich countries hoarded the COVID-19 vaccines, something
that he ranted about a few weeks ago in front of fellow world leaders in the 76th United Nations
General Assembly. If I will compete with rich countries who are procuring vaccines, I would
really fall behind. The president added. Duterte noted the continuing decline of COVID-19 cases
in the country, saying a "better" Christmas is in store for the Filipinos. He cites increased vaccine
confidence and public compliance with health and safety protocols.

Duterte, nevertheless, assured the public that the government has the money to purchase more
jabs and to carry out the vaccination program. "Fortunately, we have some money. According to
(Finance) Secretary (Carlos) Dominguez (III), we have the money. We have the money to pay
for the vaccines for all Filipinos," the President said.

Officials have given assurances that the Philippines has a steady supply of pandemic shots,
saying some 100 million vaccine doses are expected to be delivered in the month of October
2021. presidential spokesman Harry Roque said the sufficient vaccine supply made it possible
for the government to open the inoculation program to the general population and to minors who
are 12 to 17 years old. The latest shipments that have arrived in the country include the 918,450
doses of Pfizer jabs that is part of the 1.8 million doses donated by the US through the COVAX
Facility, the 3.49 million doses of Moderna shots purchased by the national government and the
private sector; and the 661,100 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines acquired by the private sector.
"We are confident that the most, if not all, major cities in the country will be hit and even surpass
this target before Christmas, I hope," the president said.

COVID-19 shots have been provided in about 50 million doses, including 23 million full doses,
according to him. More than 7.5 million people in Metro Manila have been completely
vaccinated, accounting for over 77 percent of the region's target population.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Benhur Abalos said the capital region
aims to vaccinate 86% of its eligible population by November 10.
