COMMUNITY MAPPING
S.Y 2021-2022
School is said to be the place where learning takes place, thus students learning is a
great accomplishment to every school. Student’s learning and achievements does not only
happen in classrooms. Parents/families and school communities should be the active contributors
to their students learning.
Before the School Year 2021-2022 open, the teachers of Burgos National High School,
once again did their task to roam around in the area where they were designated, but due to
Covid -19 pandemic, the traditional way of learner’s information mapping will be changed to online
mapping. All the teachers given their time and exerted their fully effort to determine the possible
number of enrollees in the barangay via phone calling, Facebook, messenger/chat and text
messaging the parents and students to get the important basic information such as name,
demographic information of the learners, residence, educational status and the future enrollment
of the students.
Fortunately, despite of the pandemic, the parents or guardians gave the needed information of the
students promptly and all the teachers did it well and accomplished their job smoothly.
Dropout Reduction Program is an intervention program to reduce the high dropout rate
and improve learning outcomes in public and private schools of the country, using formal, non-
formal and informal approaches. One of the identified priority improvement areas as indicated in
the ESIP for the School year is dropout reduction program.
Since we are in the new normal due to the effects of Covid-19 pandemic which led many
countries to close schools in part or in full to help contain the virus. During school closures, they
were required to conduct distance teaching with no time to prepare and often with limited
guidance and resources. The Department of Education was implemented different modes of
learning, specifically here in our locality, printed modules mode of learning was much prepared
and most applicable in remote areas. Access to remote education will of course depend on
households having the necessary equipment. Teachers requires training and support on adjusting
curricula and assessment methods to measure and mitigate learning losses and prevent
vulnerable students from dropping out. To minimize dropout rate, close monitoring of students’
participation on modular distance learning is necessary. Most of the activities done by the
teachers to prevent dropping out of students is letting to know the student’s matter, what they
missed and support them immediately. Using social media to communicate with students in a
venue in which they are comfortable, Setting up regular check -in calls with students and families.
Home visitation observing health protocols at all times. This is the time to harness the momentum
of parents’ involvement with their children’s education-they take their part in simple educational
activities with their children at home and become more involved in exchanging information on
their children’s learning.
However, Burgos National High School with the superior are the instruments in holding
the students, with collaboration and creative problem solving school helps student to restore a
sense of hopefulness so as not to drop thru their positive interventions to both the
parents/guardians and students so as not to have a gap in the delivery of educational services.
